Farmers created canals for irrigation because they were limited on the amount of water they get when the growing season came around. The farmers flooded their fields with water from the irrigation ditch. They plowed through the field to break up the soil. The large chunks of soil should now be broken up. They used a harrow to smooth out the field. The farmers dropped the seeds into the ground using a seeder-plough. They watered their field three times after it has been sown. When the crops were ripe, they cut the barley, gathered it, and took it to the threshing house.
