My class just arrived in our time machine in Mesopotamia, and there are a ton of different decorations. I've already learned so much. While I was looking through the temples, I read an inscription on the wall; "Elli is a god and the other gods can’t look at him because he is so powerful! He guards the tablets of destiny." He wrote the fate of everything on earth!
Day 2: Today I asked some locals about their religion, and they told me they believed in many different gods and goddesses. The people believe that the gods control everything, so they would give up numerous things as offerings to the gods. Sometimes they would sacrifice their most prized possessions to the gods for a good season of farming and no droughts.
Day 3: Today I went exploring in the archives, and I found the marriage records of everyone who lived in Mesopotamia, even the gods! The god of harvest ,Dumzi, married the goddess of love and war, Ishtar. Ishtar loved causing trouble almost as much as she loved love! She and her husband have lived together for a long time, and they never parted.
Day 4: Today we were in a Ziggurat and saw a drawing of a woman. I asked a priest who it was, and he told me that it was Ereshkigal, the goddess of the underworld! She is a sly and cunning woman who would do anything for power and riches. I’m so sad that tonight we have to leave Mesopotamia. Maybe we’ll go to ancient Greece next!
